Food Lion Speed Street set to rock Uptown Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - Rev your engines!  It's almost time for Food Lion Speed Street!  Get your "fix" for speed at this year's motorsports festival in Uptown Charlotte.  Enjoy live entertainment on a variety of stages, access to some of racing's brightest stars, sponsor displays, interactive displays, children's activities and some of the best street food available.  Look for the WBTV booth along Tryon Street, in front of the Courtyard Mariott Center City (near Third Street).  WBTV personalities will be signing autographs from noon to 2pm and 7 to 8pm Thursday and Friday, and from 2pm to 6pm on Sunday.

SOUTH END - Start your engines! The Chow Down Food Truck Rodeo is coming to South End on Thursday, October 27!

The Chow Down event is a way to bring a lot of trucks to one location and let your taste buds experience all they have to offer.

Come to the Icehouse restaurant parking lot from 5-9 p.m. and pick which truck to start at.

The Battle of the Carolinas' Tailgate Party - USC vs. ECU

CHARLOTTE - College football is back!  Join us and party for a purpose at The Battle of the Carolinas' Tailgate Party this Saturday!  There's music, food, a full service cash bar, a cornhole tournament, beer pong, viewing area and more.  Kickoff from Bank of America Stadium is scheduled about 7pm.  Proceeds benefit  the Back to Life Foundation.

"Dog Wall" raising money for Hounds for Heroes

NODA - Solstice Tavern in NoDa dug into their communities artsy roots and is now in the midst of raising money for Hounds for Heroes through a mural.

Tavern employees decided to create a "Dog Wall" on their back patio to benefit the charity which matches shelter dogs with returning war veterans.

What exactly is a dog wall?  Well, it's something that anyone and their pet could literally be part of.

Elizabeth Avenue farmer's market opens July 16

ELIZABETH - The Elizabeth Avenue farmer's market will open for the season on Saturday, July 16 from 8a.m.-12p.m. at 1515 Elizabeth Avenue.

Only those products produced by the local vendors, caught by the local Fisherman, harvested by local beekeepers or created by the local chefs will be offered. 

All vendors are small producers using Organic and “Green” methods producing the finest of  quality.
