4 injured in crash that shut down Providence Road for hours

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV)- A traffic crash involving a state owned SUV shut down Providence Road in Myers Park Tuesday morning.

The incident was reported at 8:40 a.m. at Providence Road and Circle Avenue, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.

A BMW and a Dodge Durango from the NC Office of Public Health Preparedness and Response were involved in a collision.

Mecklenburg Medic says they transported four people from the crash, two with life threatening injuries and two with potentially life threatening injuries. Three of them were taken to Carolinas Medical Center and the fourth was taken to Presbyterian Hospital.

Police setup crime tape around the crash and had the road closed for several hours. The road has since reopened.
